When you have undergone prostate cancer surgery or radiation therapy, the muscles that work to control your urine flow may get debilitated. When it occurs, you may have urinary incontinence. Incontinence is the term used to refer to a condition when you leak or pass urine unintentionally. This is one of the most prevalent side effects of prostate cancer treatment.

There is a simple exercise, namely a Kegel exercise, you can perform to help reinforce your muscles. This exercise will help you have better control over your urine flow after your prostate cancer treatment.

        What Are Kegel Exercises?

These exercises are also known as pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT) exercises. They focus on your pelvic floor muscles (also called pubococcygeal (PC) muscles).

Both men and women have these PC muscles. They offer support to your pelvic organs, such as bladder, bowel, and urethra. They help sustain your organs in place, encouraging reasonable control over the bladder and sexual functioning.
